Introduction

This blog is a place where I will be recording information and guides about upgrading an Asus EeePC 1005HA netbook.

The first upgrade that is taking place is to upgrade the storage in the 1005HA from a 160GB HDD to a 128GB SSD (solid state drive). This will include details and pictures of the upgrade to make it easier for you to do yourself.

After that the RAM will be upgraded from 1GB to 2GB.

I have the SSD already and the laptop is arriving tomorrow so this blog will be updated shortly afterwards.

I hope the information that will follow will help some of you!

  2. hi,I want to inquire whether Asus EEPC 1005HA 170HDD is fine with upgrading its ram (to 2GB) using a KINGSTON DDR? Because my laptop is encountering Blue Screen problems and the OS Windows XP will not boot up even after replacing the motherboard and hdd. The ASUS computer technician told me that the possible problem is the incompatibility of the upgraded ram installed in the unit. He advised me to use Samsung or Apacer 66 DDR. The ASUS store where I bought the laptop think otherwise. My unit is not yet one year and still under the warranty coverage.

I will appreciate your kind reply and clarification about the matter.

I want to inquire whether Asus EEPC 1005HA 170HDD (bought last sept 2009) is fine with upgrading its ram (to 2GB) using a KINGSTON DDR? Because my laptop is encountering Blue Screen problems and the OS Windows XP will not boot up. This happened last April 2010. Initially, the technician reformatted the laptop, but the same problem occurs. He then replaced the motherboard and hard drive to a new ones. Then recently, this June 2010, same problems (blue screen and windows Xp will not boot up) occurs again. The ASUS computer technician told me that the possible problem is the incompatibility of the upgraded ram installed in the unit. He advised me to use Samsung or Apacer 667 DDR instead of Kingston. The ASUS store where I bought the laptop think otherwise. My unit is not yet one year and still under the warranty coverage.

I will appreciate your kind reply and clarification about the matter.
